3D-seismological scans on the River Inn
On March 8th, in the course of the seismological field survey in the area around the city of Gars am Inn, 3D-seismological scans have been conducted on the River Inn. In contrast to the onshore proceedings the required impulse was not triggered by vibroseismic vehicles, but transmitted through the water into the ground by compressed air. This technically complex operation was chosen to avoid any disturbance of the wildlife in the neighbouring nature reserve.
Representatives of the public authorities, the local power industry and the fishery alliance attended the event to catch up on details about the measurement. The evaluation showed a high quality of the data, which considerably improved our search for a suitable site for a geothermal power plant to generate local and renewable energy.
